Affirmations

I am strong. I am enough. I have the power to change my life.

Recently, affirmations have become more accepted and used within the self-help community. A lot of these act as statements to affirm to one self that they want to live a better life, or that they have control over their circumstances, even though it may not always feel like it.

However, a pattern I noticed with these affirmations is that they often start with "I am", and there is great power in just those words.

Using "I am" affirms that we have the power to take control of our lives and the situations around us. Although we cannot always control the outcome of the situation, we can control the way that we react to it.

In this sense, an affirmation acts as a reminder. I have realized that we sometimes need these reminders to let us know that everything is not out of our control, and that we are still capable individuals. Affirmations can also help us remember past achievements and know that we can also get through tough times in the future.

Up until recently, I thought affirmations were mostly self-help fluff that worked for some people, but not myself. I think the most important thing is that we need to keep an open mind and not go in with preconceived notions. Affirmations are just words after all, WE create the meaning behind them.

If we choose to create meaning behind affirmations, we can potentially make our lives better. However, affirmations can also work like little boosts of confidence. When we put power behind these words, we also instill power in ourselves. We start to believe that we can accomplish great things, so we do. We look in the mirror and say our favorite affirmations every morning, but in reality YOU are the one putting in the work. These little words of confidence just help us get to where we want to be.

In short, there are many ways that affirmations can help us in our lives. Whether they act as reminders or help us boost our confidence, they could be beneficial in your life if you have an open mind. If we want to manifest the life we wish, we have to believe that it is possible. Affirmations that we are good enough and that we can lead a life of fulfillment are a great place to start.
